A Caster Warrior

Painting works on this model began a year ago, so it's not exactly new. However, I kept getting sidetracked since then and begun to lost interest in finishing this model. Since I'm currently upbeat on WFB mode, I've finally given it the proper justice that it deserves.

Yes, it's a Warmachine/Hordes model, one of casters from the Circle of Orboros faction. With a slight conversion of a Chaos Shield, I got the Caster Warrior that I wanted for my army. Game-wise, I'm using this model as a Chaos Exalted Lord with Book of Secrets, which is good enough to play the role of the second close combat character and the second caster in my army.

Just by looking at the blue-yellow-white colour palette, I'm convinced that you can guess what my army theme is. As for the basing, I was aiming for a frozen dirt look but I don't think I have managed to pull it off yet. Maybe another wash of Devlan Mud, or perhaps a lighter highlight of pure white. Do let me know if you have any other suggestions, ok.

That's all for this edition ;)

  1. Nicely painted sir. Nicely painted indeed. At first glance, the chaos shield made me think that GW was coming out with a new Chaos Dwarves army! =)

    1. Thanks.

Don't think the Chaos Dwarves are going to happen anytime soon. They still have a lot of current codex/army books to update.

    1. It's actually shadow grey highlighted with fortress grey on ice blue.
Any suggestion on the contrast colour? I've tried white+grey but it looked unfinished, while yellow took away the attention from the other parts of the model.

  3. Nice that you're painting something else besides 40k bro. I'm suffering a burnout of that at the moment. You want to have a tale fo 2 painter? Could inspire me to paint my skavens :)

    1. Tale of 2 Painters? That'd be cool.
But I've jumpstarted a bit, will that be okay with you?

  4. Cool fig- I never would've thought to use him.

What are you going for on the base? Tough to make out from the pic. Is that a strip of black between the model's feet?

As of now, it's a Devlan Mud wash over a white primer, then randomly drybrushed unevenly with Ice Blue. That strip of darker colour is originally meant to be the model's shadow. But now that you've mentioned it, it does look a bit odd.
